It was the lavender color of the flowers that first captured my interest. As I painted the arrangement, I did so in a bold, stylized fashion, emphasizing shapes and colors. Taking my cue from the lavender flowers, I incorporated the shade of lavender throughout the painting: in the glass vase; in the napkin and table covering; on the surface of the open apple; and even within the background as well---all of which brings a sense of harmony to the painting. When something deeply appeals to us it often, sometimes in subtle ways, impacts our entire lives. It colors almost all we do. When we are cognizant of this underlying movement in our lives, we can allow it to bring a sense of harmony and oneness to our soul.
